Visit vibrant Bristol and join us for a traditional walking festival with an urban and Nordic edge.
Banksy, street art and historic harbour tours sit alongside more conventional guided walks in the Cotswolds, Mendips, Bath and beyond in a celebration of walking and Nordic walking.
Whether you’re new to Bristol or lived here all your life, our goal is for you experience to some of the region’s best scenery, nature and history.
Our Festival starts on Friday evening with a beautiful Bristol Harbourside walk. It’s an opportunity to meet other walkers and learn a bit about the city’s rich and eventful maritime history.
On Saturday we have urban walks and boat tours in the heart of Bristol; walks that take you from the city centre out into the surrounding countryside; and walks in some of the region’s best loved walking areas including the Wye Valley and Cotswolds. Group sizes are small and led by experienced guides, transport to and from walks is included in the price, and most walks finish at a café or site of historic interest with time built in for refreshments and sight-seeing.
On Sunday we welcome British Nordic Walking and offer three stunning walks of different lengths, all crossing Brunel’s famous Clifton Suspension Bridge.
All walks are open to Nordic walkers and regular walkers.
How it works
Our full schedule of walks and events will be available to book from March 2021. We have an integrated online booking system to make it easy for you to choose what you want and buy your ticket online.
For each walk we’ve included the approximate distance, number of stiles and difficulty as well as the start and finish times. But we are here to help so if you’ve any questions please contact us.
At the time of booking you’ll need to complete a short health questionnaire. Closer to the Festival we’ll email you your pre-event information including what to wear, what to bring, and health and safety guidance.
We know this has been an unsettling time with Coronavirus. Rest assured we will be fully compliant with all Covid-19 requirements and if we have to cancel for any reason (including bad weather) you will receive a full refund.
Begin with an early Friday evening stroll around Bristol’s floating harbour and set the scene for your weekend. Meet other walkers, take in the vibrant regeneration of this historic maritime port and get your bearings for Saturday’s festival hub.
Book from a diverse selection of half and full day walks ranging from 3km urban tours to 16km hikes along some of the best loved trails in the stunning walking areas fanning out from Bristol including:

Beach, tea and cake walk by Weston super Mare;
A walk across the magnificent Mendips ending at Cheddar Gorge;
Walks in the quintessentially English Cotswolds;

All walks meet at the Saturday Festival Hub beside Millennium Square in the heart of Bristol. Transport to and from walks provided.
We welcome British Nordic Walking and offer a fabulous day of walking, activities and socialising at Sunday’s festival hub in the beautiful Ashton Court Estate on the edge of the city centre. Choose one of three different guided distance walks (roughly 6, 11 and 21km).
All cross Brunel’s iconic Clifton Suspension Bridge and there will be multiple groups at each distance to accommodate different fitness levels and keep group sizes low.
Once you’re back at the hub British Nordic Walking have some fun activities for you to enjoy. Bring a picnic and something to sit on and meet up with other festival walkers and make the most of the day.
