For walkers and Nordic walkers
Visit vibrant Bristol and join us for a traditional walking festival with an urban and Nordic edge.
Banksy, street art and historic harbour tours sit alongside more conventional guided walks in the Cotswolds, Mendips, Bath and beyond in a celebration of walking and Nordic walking.
Whether you’re new to Bristol or lived here all your life, our goal is for you to experience some of the region’s best scenery, nature and history.
Our Festival starts on Friday evening with a beautiful Bristol Harbourside walk. It’s an opportunity to meet other walkers and learn a bit about the city’s rich and eventful maritime history.
On Saturday we have urban walks and boat tours in the heart of Bristol; walks that take you from the city centre out into the surrounding countryside; and walks in some of the region’s best loved walking areas including the Wye Valley and Cotswolds. Group sizes are small and led by experienced guides and most walks finish at a café or site of historic interest so you can enjoy refreshments or sight-seeing after your walk.
On Sunday we welcome British Nordic Walking and offer three stunning walks of different lengths, all crossing Brunel’s famous Clifton Suspension Bridge.
All walks are open to Nordic walkers and regular walkers.
How it works
Our full schedule of walks and events will be available to book from June 2021. We have an integrated online booking system to make it easy for you to choose what you want and buy your tickets online securely.
For each walk we’ve included the approximate distance, difficulty level, start point, price and start and finish times. You will need to arrange your own transport to and from the walk. We encourage you to lift share if it is Covid safe to do so and details of how to link up with other Festival walkers are on our General Info page. We are here to help so if you’ve any questions please contact us.
Closer to the Festival we’ll email you your pre-event information including what to wear, what to bring, and health and safety guidance.
We know this has been an unsettling time with Coronavirus. Rest assured we will be fully compliant with all Covid-19 requirements and if we have to cancel for any reason (including bad weather) you will receive a full refund.
Begin with an early Friday evening stroll around Bristol’s floating harbour and set the scene for your weekend. Meet other walkers and take in the vibrant regeneration of this historic maritime port.
Book from a diverse selection of half and full day walks ranging from 2 mile urban tours to 10 mile hikes along some of the best loved trails in the stunning walking areas fanning out from Bristol including:
Banksy and Street Art urban walks;
Beach, tea and cake walk by Weston super Mare;
The magnificent Mendips and Cheddar Gorge;
Walks in the quintessentially English Cotswolds;

We hope it will be possible to have an evening picnic at our Saturday Festival hub overlooking Bristol harbour. We will be able to give more information once the Covid rules are clearer.
We welcome British Nordic Walking and offer a fabulous day of walking, activities and socialising at Sunday’s festival hub in the beautiful Ashton Court Estate on the edge of the city centre. Choose one of three different self-guided distance walks (roughly 4, 7 and 13 miles).
All walks cross Brunel’s iconic Clifton Suspension Bridge and there will be checkpoints on the way round.
Once you’re back at the hub, British Nordic Walking have some fun activities for you to enjoy. Bring a picnic and something to sit on, meet up with other festival walkers and make the most of the day.
